Week Three News and Notes

Swim Families, Thank you for being a part of our Smokin’ Salmon family. We had a great showing at our Mock Meet on Monday, and we had a great group that gathered for dinner at Casa Don Gallo! NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO PRACTICE TOMORROW NIGHT (JUNE 15) AT THE UT POOL. Tennessee Aquatics is hosting a 3-day meet beginning Friday morning, and swimmers are coming in from all across the southeast. We expect that the pool areas will be quite chaotic. We WILL still hold the morning practices at the AJCC pool. MEET ON JUNE 20 versus the CLINTON SHARKS SWIM TEAM RSVPs and Volunteer signups are now open for our first meet which will be on Tuesday, June 20 against the Clinton Sharks. Warmups will begin at 5:00, and the meet will start at 6:00 pm. Please go to our team website to RSVP for your swimmers and to sign up for volunteer shifts. Tips on using the website: There are many ways to access the RSVP and Volunteer pages. You can use the links below; however if you are on a mobile device, it is recommended to login into your account first in a browser and scroll to the bottom of the page and select View Full Site. All families are expected to work at least one shift per meet. Feel free to email our volunteer coordinator, Cary Smith, at [email protected] or text her at 865-919-2325 if you have questions about any of the Volunteer positions. CERTIFIED WORKERS NEEDED FOR MEETS Our team is still VERY low on Certified Officials. Please consider getting certified to serve as Stroke and Turn Judge or Starter. NO SWIMMING EXPERIENCE Needed! If you attended one of the clinics, be sure to take the online test for the area where you want to be certified by Friday of this week. TEAM TACOS ON MONDAY Following practice on Monday, we will go to Casa Don Gallo in Rocky Hill to celebrate the first meet of the season. They know to expect us… and we hope to make this a weekly tradition for our team this year. The staff is incredible, and the food is good, too. (Meal prices range from $5.00-$15.00). MEET SCHEDULE We are going to have a great summer, as we have THREE (3) Home Meets! June 20 Clinton @ USC June 27 USC @ Newport- Cocke County July 11 Ft. Sanders @ USC July 15-16 Smoky Mountain Invitational July 18 National Fitness Center @ USC July 28-30 GKAISA City Meet Our regular meets are set to begin at 6:00 pm. Our warm-up for the home meets will take place at 5:00 pm, and our warm-up at Newport-Cocke County will take place at 5:30 pm. We will provide more information about Smoky Mountain and City when it is available. MANDATORY FORMS We need for you to complete the Concussion, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and Hazing Policy forms with your swimmers (one of each per swimmer) prior to the June 20 meet. You can turn those in on deck with Coach Joe. SWIMMING LESSONS Our coaches are available for private swimming instruction. If you want a session for your swimmer, please complete the form and then turn it in to ReNee in the AJCC office. Payment should be made when the form is turned in. Personal Note: Private instruction with our coaches has been fantastic for my swimmer. Money well-spent. TEAM SUITS, CAPS AND TOWELS Our team suit is the TYR Phoenix Splice. Team suits are available for purchase at Swim and Tri in Bearden. We expect that our caps and towels will arrive within the next day or so. They will be available on deck as soon as they arrive.
Again, thank you for being a part of the University Swim Club Smokin' Salmon family!
