Parent Volunteers
Our club depends on parents contributing their time, talents and efforts.
One parent must volunteer at each meet in which their swimmer(s) compete. Home meets require even more workers, and parents may need to work more than one shift.
JOB DESCRIPTIONS FOR PARENT VOLUNTEERS
Check-in Parent: All
swimmers report to this person on arrival to a meet. MUST ARRIVE EARLY.
Clerk of Course: Ensures
swimmers line up in assigned lanes and in correct sequence.
Escort: Takes
the younger swimmers to lanes for individual and relay events.
Finish Judge: Calls
the order of finish for first heat of each event.
Jump Judge: Calls
jumps on relays at opposite end of the pool from the finish judges.
Runner: Collects
time cards from the timers, order of finish from the scribes, and DQ slips from
the stroke-and-turn judges, takes them to the scoring table.
Scribe: Records
the time on the lane sheets.
*Stroke and Turn Judge: Calls
all infractions of the Stroke and Turn rules.
Tent Parent: Calls
swimmers for events, keeps swimmers under the tent, gives permission for
swimmers to leave the tent when necessary, and helps evacuate swimmers in the
event of the thunderstorms.
Timer: Times
races with stopwatch and gives time to scribe. Head Timer serves as backup timer
and ensures all timers know what to do and are performing properly. Head timer
provides feedback to Starter when swimmers are ready to step up.
Volunteer check in: All volunteers report to this person on arrival to a meet. Distribute job tags and report to meet director with any needs or no shows. MUST ARRIVE EARLY.
