Swim Families, Congrats to swimmers on the BIG WIN over the Clinton Sharks Swim Team. Final Score was USC 376 – CSST 176. We had lots of swimmers win races and heats, and nearly every swimmer got at least one personal best time. Congrats also to our swimmers of the week: Mac Whipple, Ally Davis, Ellie Finke and Cooper Hancock. Be sure to have your swimmers check for theirs. MEET ON TUESDAY, JUNE 27 versus NEWPORT COCKE COUNTY RAPIDS We take on the Newport Cocke County Rapids next Tuesday night, June 27 at 6:00 p.m. We will warm-up at 5:30. Please have your swimmers there by 5:15. The Rapids swim at the Newport Community Center, which is located at 433 Prospect Avenue in Newport. We will provide additional details when we receive them. Also, we are exploring chartering a bus to transport any families that want to ride. We hope to provide additional information about that tomorrow, as well. RSVPs and Volunteer signups are currently open. We will close swimmer RSVPs at noon on Monday, and volunteer signups will close at midnight on Monday. TEAM TACOS ON MONDAY Following practice Monday night, we will go to Casa Don Gallo in Rocky Hill. They know to expect us… and we hope to make this a weekly tradition for our team this year. The staff is incredible, and the food is good, too. (Meal prices range from $5.00-$15.00). CAPS AND TOWELS Our pre-ordered caps and towels are in and available for pick-up at evening practices or before the NCC meet. If you did not pre-order a cap or towel but would like one, please email Angelia Nystrom at [email protected]. We have a limited number available for purchase. Caps are $10, and towels are $27.50. TEAM T-SHIRTS We are ordering team t-shirts on Monday. Like last year, our swimmers’ names will appear on the back of the shirt. Please check the attached Word document to be sure that your swimmers’ names are included and are correct. Please email Angelia Nystrom at [email protected] with any corrections prior to noon on Monday. SMOKY MOUNTAIN INVITATIONAL The Smoky Mountain Invitational Swim Meet will be held on Saturday, July 15 (ages 11-Up) and Sunday, July 16 (ages 10-Under). We will post information as soon as it is received. Note that there will be a very quick turnaround once we receive the information about the meet. GKAISA CITY MEET CHAMPIONSHIPS The GKAISA City Meet will be held July 28-30 at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center at UT. Information on the City Meet will be forthcoming in the next couple of weeks. GKAISA is our parent swimming association, and it hosts the City Meet Championships each year. The costs to hold the City Meet continue to rise. GKAISA is able to cover those costs through team dues ($50 per team), City Meet entry fees, heat sheet sales and ad sales, and private donations. GKAISA also receives revenue from City Meet t-shirt sales. If your swimmers intend to participate, I want to encourage you to consider purchasing a City Meet t-shirt. I have attached a mock-up of the front of the shirt. For those of you who are new, GKAISA prints two different shirts for City Meet: one with the names of the 11-Up swimmers (Friday swimmers) on the back, and one with the names of the 10-Under swimmers (Saturday swimmers) on the back. We will begin taking orders within the next couple of weeks. Shirts will not be available for purchase at the City Meet, so they must be ordered in advance. Cost is $15 per shirt. SWIMMING LESSONS Our coaches are available for private swimming instruction. If you want a session for your swimmer, please complete the form and then turn it in to ReNee in the AJCC office. Payment should be made when the form is turned in. …. AND FINALLY….. SAVE THE DATE: Sunday, August 13 for the Season-End Banquet. Details will be forthcoming soon.
