Swim Families,

Congrats to swimmers on the BIG WIN over the Newport Cocke County Rapids. Final Score was USC 412 – NCC 187. We had lots of swimmers getting great times last night, and it is exciting to see everyone improving each week.

Ribbons from the Meet will be in the Family Boxes on deck starting tonight. Be sure to have your swimmers check for theirs.

Also, we will celebrate our big win tonight at Snowballs in Bearden after the older swimmers’ practice ends at 8:00. Please make plans to attend. Snow-cones range between $2 and $5.  

SMOKY MOUNTAIN INVITATIONAL SWIM MEET- JULY 15-16

The 44th Annual Smoky Mountain Invitational Swim Meet will take place on July 15 (Ages 11-Up) and July 16 (Ages 10-Under) at Springbrook Park in Alcoa. Our registration link is open. To  register your swimmer, please go to our team’s website or click on the link below:

Swimmers MUST be registered for this Meet NO LATER THAN NOON on MONDAY, JULY 3. Please indicate on your RSVP which swimmers will swim and their ages. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to the registration policy for this Meet… AND NO LATE REGISTRATIONS.

Also, parents, if you are willing to work on either day as a Stroke and Turn Judge or a Starter, please email Angelia at [email protected] no later than Monday, July 3 at Noon. We must submit names of skilled workers when we send in entries on Monday.

Also, please note: if your children are swimming, you will be asked to fill worker shifts. Our team is penalized 50 points for every unfilled position.

MEET ON TUESDAY, JULY 11 versus FORT SANDERS HEALTH AND FITNESS

We take on the Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Storm on Tuesday night, July 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the AJCC Pool. We will warm-up at 5:00. Please have your swimmers there by 4:45.

The fshfc Storm will be a very tough team. If last year is any indication, they will bring approximately 150 swimmers to our pool. PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND THIS MEET, AS WE WILL NEED ALL OF THE SWIMMERS WE CAN GET IN ORDER TO HAVE A CHANCE OF WINNING.  

RSVPs will open next week.

CAPS AND TOWELS

Our pre-ordered caps and towels are in and available for pick-up at evening practices.

If you did not pre-order a cap or towel but would like one, please email Angelia Nystrom at [email protected]. We have a limited number available for purchase. Caps are $10, and towels are $27.50.

 TEAM T-SHIRTS

We have ordered team t-shirts. Like last year, our swimmers’ names will appear on the back of the shirt. These should be available for pick-up before the Fort Sanders Meet.

GKAISA CITY MEET CHAMPIONSHIPS

The GKAISA City Meet will be held July 28-30 at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center at UT. Information on the City Meet will be forthcoming in the next couple of weeks.

GKAISA is our parent swimming association, and it hosts the City Meet Championships each year. The costs to hold the City Meet continue to rise. GKAISA is able to cover those costs through team dues ($50 per team), City Meet entry fees, heat sheet sales and ad sales, and private donations. GKAISA also receives revenue from City Meet t-shirt sales.

If your swimmers intend to participate, I want to encourage you to consider purchasing a City Meet t-shirt. I have attached a mock-up of the front of the shirt. For those of you who are new, GKAISA prints two different shirts for City Meet: one with the names of the 11-Up swimmers (Friday swimmers) on the back, and one with the names of the 10-Under swimmers (Saturday swimmers) on the back.

We will begin taking orders within the next couple of weeks. Shirts will not be available for purchase at the City Meet, so they must be ordered in advance. Cost is $15 per shirt.

SWIMMING LESSONS

Our coaches are available for private swimming instruction. If you want a session for your swimmer, please complete the form and then turn it in to  ReNee in the AJCC office. Payment should be made when the form is turned in.
