Swim Families,

Congratulations on a great meet last night versus Fort Sanders!! Although we didn’t win, we had a number of fantastic individual performances, and many of our swimmers had personal best times. Congratulations to our Swimmers of the Meet: Madeline Beckett, Zach Rosenbaum, Reilly Swanson and Keith Gabrielson.

To celebrate tonight, we will head over to Pelican’s Sno-balls in Bearden following each practice session for sno-cones and fun.

Please make every effort to attend our meet next week. If we win the meet, we can win our League, and we need every swimmer we can get in order to score points. Also, Tuesday night will be “Toga Party Night.” Come to the meet dressed in your finest toga and ready to have a great time.

 MEET ON TUESDAY, JULY 18 versus NATIONAL FITNESS CENTER

We take on National Fitness Center next Tuesday night, July 18 at 6:00 p.m. We will warm-up at 5:00. Please have your swimmers there by 4:45.

RSVPs and Volunteer signups are currently open. We will close swimmer RSVPs at noon on Monday, and volunteer signups will close at midnight on Monday.

CAPS AND TOWELS

Our pre-ordered caps and towels are in and available for pick-up at evening practices or before the NFC meet.

If you did not pre-order a cap or towel but would like one, please email Angelia Nystrom at [email protected]. We have a limited number available for purchase. Caps are $10, and towels are $27.50.

Also, if you have picked up a cap but have not paid, please log onto the website and pay through the Products tab.

 TEAM T-SHIRTS

Team t-shirts will be available for pick-up tonight at practice and tomorrow night at practice. Once the majority have been handed out, we will offer the remaining ones for sale (beginning Friday) to parents on a first-come/first-served basis for $15 each.

SMOKY MOUNTAIN INVITATIONAL

The Smoky Mountain Invitational Swim Meet will be held this Saturday, July 15 (ages 11-Up)  and Sunday, July 16 (ages 10-Under). Thank you to all who signed up to swim. Please check the line-ups that Joe has previously provided for warm-up times and events.

Also, we are required to provide a timer for Session 1 on both Saturday and Sunday. If you are willing to serve in that role, please respond to this email. If we do not provide workers, our team’s score will be reduced, and our team will be fined.  

GKAISA CITY MEET CHAMPIONSHIPS

The GKAISA City Meet will be held July 28-30 at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center at UT. RSVPs are currently open. We will close swimmer RSVPs on Tuesday at noon. There will be no late entries so please be sure your swimmers have been signed up if they plan to swim.

Parking at the City Meet will be in the Metron Center Garage. Busses will be available to transport you to Allan Jones Aquatic Center and will run continuously throughout the Meet.

For those of you who are new, here is a bit more information:

GKAISA is our parent swimming association, and it hosts the City Meet Championships each year. The costs to hold the City Meet continue to rise. GKAISA is able to cover those costs through team dues ($50 per team), City Meet entry fees, heat sheet sales and ad sales, and private donations. GKAISA also receives revenue from City Meet t-shirt sales.

If your swimmers intend to participate, I want to encourage you to consider purchasing a City Meet t-shirt. For those of you who are new, GKAISA prints two different shirts for City Meet: one with the names of the 11-Up swimmers (Friday swimmers) on the back, and one with the names of the 10-Under swimmers (Saturday swimmers) on the back.

We are taking orders for City Meet t-shirts now. To order your City Meet shirt, go to the Products tab on our website. You will be able to select the shirt for the days that your children are swimming, as well as the sizes. Please pay through the website, as we must pay for the shirts in advance.

Shirts will not be available for purchase at the City Meet, so they must be ordered in advance. Cost is $15 per shirt.

Also, if you have a business and would like to advertise in the City Meet Heat Sheet, please respond to this email, and we will provide you with additional information.

Finally, if your swimmer is a great musician or singer and would like to perform the National Anthem during the City Meet, please respond to this email. Auditions will occur during the week of City Meet.
