Dog Days Information
Good Afternoon,
We can't wait to see everyone at our Dog Days of summer meet! We are especially excited to welcome our puppies to their first meet as well! We look forward to seeing what all they've accomplished this summer!
Attached is all the information about this meet, please read through all of it.
EVENTS: Unlike normal meets, at dog days we have fun themed events that everyone will swim in. In order we have:
Zoomies: A 25 or 50 yard Freestyle (depending on age) as fast as you can go!
Barkstroke: A 25 or 50 yard Backstroke where swimmers must bark like a dog the whole time!
Fetch Relay: Swimmers will use a kick board to take a tennis ball to their relay teammates.
Parents vs. Coaches: Will the parents extend their streak against the coaches or will the coaches finally take regain their dominance?
Attached are the heat and athlete check-in sheets so swimmers and families can know where everyone is swimming.
THEME: A puppy safari! We hope to see all swimmers in their best animal costumes. Jr Coaches and Coaches will be the tour guides!
WHERE: We will swim at the UTK Outdoor pool just like a practice or a home meet. Parking will be the same as usual as well.
WHEN: Swimmers should plan to arrive before 5:30.
8 and under swimmers (Including puppies) warmup 5:45-6:15
All other swimmers will not have a formal warmup.
Meet will begin around 6:20
WHAT TO BRING: We encourage everyone to bring goggles, water, towels, and a chair to sit in.
SENIOR SWIM: We will be celebrating our senior swimmers after the Barkstrokes and before the relays.
JR COACHES: We will be having all junior coaches available to help with the puppies events and seating behind the blocks.
PARENTS: If you are not working the meet, we encourage parents to stay away from the blocks end of the pool to allow the swimmers space to get ready for their swim, if a swimmer is nervous about their races, encourage them to try and remind them that the coaches and junior coaches will help them however they need.
Thank you all and see everyone soon!
