City Meet Weather Plan and Important Banquet Info

    Hi Swim Fam!

Thank you for being gracious with all of our communication this week with City Meet. We know it's a lot of information but it is important and want to make sure you have everything you need.

Attached you will find an emergency plan for inclement weather during City Meet. This is same emergency plan that is in place each year but GKAISA and our coaches have asked us to highlight this plan since inclement weather is forecasted this week.

The highlights of the plan are as follows:

-If lightning is detected within a 10-mile radius or if there is an active tornado warning all meet activity will be suspended immediately.

-Athletes inside Allan Jones will stay inside Allan Jones. Athletes inside clerk of course will be ushered into Allan Jones. All other athletes will meet our coaches at our tent outside of Allan Jones. Our USC coaches will usher our athletes into Allan Jones.

-There is a specific location for our athletes and coaches to gather on the pool deck in Allan Jones. I have attached the map to this email as well. Our coaches will have athlete rosters and will ensure all athletes are with them and safe. 10 and under parents, please know that our coaches have access to the GroupMe and will be communicating during this entire process.

-If you are not inside Allan Jones when this process begins you will be asked to shelter in place in your vehicle. The fire marshall has given each team an evacuation place and our team has been asked to shelter in our vehicles. Your child will be sheltering in Allan Jones with our coaches while parents shelter in their vehicles.

-The meet will resume within 30 minutes after relocation procedures have begun, even if poor weather continues. Allan Jones is a certified emergency weather shelter and the meet can and will continue once swimmers are accounted for and everyone is in place.

-You can also follow GKAISA on Twitter for meet information, clerk of course, and and weather information: @GKAISAOfficial

Please read the attached information to further understand emergency procedures. Again, these are in place each year at City Meet but we are highlighting them due to the likelihood of a weather event this week. Do not hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] with questions.

Please do not forget to register for our fun end of season banquet! We will meet at our outdoor pool on Friday, July 18 for Salsaritas and family fun swim! Please RSVP by Sunday evening if you would like to attend. We will eat at 6:00, hear from our coaches, pass out awards, and then swim (and jump off the diving boards!).

Each year we collect a cash gift for our coaches to give them a big thank you for all of the wonderful work they have done for us! Please venmo to @drbford if you would like to contribute. Thank you!

Lastly, please note that both the boys and girls locker rooms in the SAC are closed. UT has asked that we use the ones outside of TRECS.

Thanks for everything swim fam! Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions!
