    The 2025 Tom Schumann Memorial GKAISA Championship Meet is upon us. Below is a topic by topic summary with some explanation for those newer to this wonderful sport. Also, you can refer to the 2025 GKAISA City Meet Championship Meet webpage for all information, forms, links.

    MEET INVITATION/SANCTION

    The Meet Invitation is a document that outlines the specifics of the meet (entry rules, events, schedule, etc.). This meet is sanctioned as an Approved Meet by USA Swimming (times obtained in this meet will count as official times for USA registered athletes). If you have questions about the meet, this is a great place to start.

    MEET SCHEDULE

    The Daily Meet Schedule has been adjusted for Saturday (finals day). UT swim team will be practicing on Saturday morning, moving GKAISA's start time back an hour and a half (only on Saturday!). General schedule is as follows:

    10 & Under athletes: Thursday, July 10th, Warm-ups begin at 1:00 pm; Competition begins at 3:00 pm.

    11 & Up athletes: Friday, July 11th, Warm-ups begin at 7:40 am; Competition begins at 9:00 am.

    Finals all ages: Saturday, July 12th, Warm-ups begin at 9:10 am; Competition begins at 10:30 am.

    SCHOLARSHIPS / SERVICE AWARDS

    CITY MEET ADS

    The ad package has some new and exciting options / levels of advertisement. Please share with your families. This is a great opportunity to reach families all across the greater Knoxville region. The Ad Package flyer has all levels of giving clearly outlined.

    TOM SCHUMANN MEMORIAL GKAISA CHAMPIONSHIP T-SHIRTS

    This year, our t-shirt will honor Tom , who was a driving force in the success of summer swimming in the Greater Knoxville Area and who will forever be known as "The Godfather."

    Our shirt will be in the style of "The Godfather" movie poster as a tribute to Tom and will feature the orange and blue of Carson-Newman, which meant so much to him. We hope you will join us in wearing the shirts to honor Tom and promoting the sale of them to your teams. Cost will be $15 per shirt, and orders will be due with City Meet registration. Sizes are YS, YM, YL, YXL and AS, AM, AL, AXL, 2XL and 3XL. Order totals are entered during registration.

    NATIONAL ANTHEM, INVOCATION, TOP QUALIFIER MUSIC

    Encourage your multi-talented athletes to audition to perform the National Anthem or deliver the invocation. National Anthem Auditions may be carried out in person, over the phone or by video audition (preferable). Contact Brad Salsbury at 865.603.8435 or at [email protected]. Deadline to submit is Monday, July 7.

    Also, we will again be asking each top qualifier from the 15-18 age group to choose “walk-out” music for Finals on Saturday. Please note: This music must be appropriate for all age groups. Any style of music is allowed, but music with an Explicit rating will not be allowed.

    If you have a swimmer or relay that is top-qualifier, please refer to the instructional document below. Approximately, 30-45 seconds will be played. If a song is not submitted, one will be chosen for you.

    SPECIAL NEEDS ATHLETES

    If you have an athlete in which special accommodations need to be made due to a disability, please complete the Special Needs Google Document to ensure the swimmer's needs are met during City meet.

    ATHLETE PROTECTION AND OTHER POLICIES IN PLACE AT AJIAC

    The Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Program (MAAPP) is in effect at this Meet. UT’s Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center will enforce this policy. ABSOLUTELY NO CELL PHONES OR CAMERAS IN THE LOCKER ROOMS OR CHANGING AREAS AT ANY TIME.

    Also, the diving well at Allan Jones will be closed on Thursday and Saturday of City Meet. We have been requested to advise that absolutely no one will be allowed in the diving well on these dates.

    IMPORTANT LOCKER ROOM PROCEDURES

    • Athletes age 17 and under should utilize the Visitor Locker rooms on deck level at Allan Jones.
    • Adults and athletes age 18 and over should utilize the University of Tennessee Team Locker Rooms accessed on deck at Allan Jones.

    ALL ADULTS AND ATHLETES ARE EXPECTED TO RESPECT THE LOCKER ROOM AREAS. ABSOLUTELY NO LOCKERS OR PERSONAL BELONGINGS SHOULD BE TOUCHED.

    PARKING PASSES

    Parking is outlined in the Meet Invite. Parking will be allowed in the parking garage across from the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. Parking passes will be sold in advance by GKAISA at a cost of $10 per day. Passes must be pre-ordered and prepaid in advance during team registration. Passes will be available for pick-up by the member teams prior to the start of the Meet (further communication will be sent out by Monday July 7 re: pickup of passes). No passes will be sold during the Meet.

    OTHER NOTES

    Warm-ups, Worker Assignments, Timelines, Tent Map, etc. will all be updated on the City Meet page after initial entries are received/processed. The Psych Sheet will be posted by Tuesday, July 8th. Heat Sheets will be available for purchase at the meet each day. Results will be available during the meet via Meet Mobile and will be considered finalized once announced (not until announced). Results will also be posted on the GKAISA 2025 City Meet page at the end of each day.
