CCC Meet 6/17
Good Afternoon,
I hope everyone is as excited about our final home meet of the season as we are! We will be swimming Cherokee Country Club in a hotly contested meet tonight!
WARMUPS
Please arrive before 4:45 to set up, check-in, and get ready for the meet. We will start 10 and under stretching at 4:45 and 11 and older stretching at 5:00. Each group will have a 15 minute in water warmup before the meet begins at 6:00. Do not be late.
10 and unders: 4:45-5:15
11 and older 5:00-5:30
SPORTSMANSHIP
This meet has historically brought out some strong feelings from swimmers and families on both teams. Please remember that you are expected to be kind and respectful to all swimmers, parents, volunteers, and coaches at all times. If you have a problem with someone, come talk to your coaches and we can help. We will not be rude or disrespectful to our guests.
Another point on sportsmanship, when you finish a race, you stay in the water until everyone has finished the race. Alternatively on a relay, you stay with your relay team until everyone has finished. You are not done until your entire team is done. We cheer for everyone improving their swims. I want to have the loudest cheering team in GKAISA this year.
WATER
Please, please, please be drinking water. It is very hot outside and the sun kills. Please ensure you and your friends/families are staying safe and hydrated. Inside SAC has water fountains and water bottle refills.
RELAYS
Almost everyone is on a relay. Your team is counting on you to be present and to swim your portion of that relay. We have no replacements for most relays tonight so either you swim your relay, or 3 other swimmers do not get to swim either. If you are on a relay, you will be required to swim it.
CHECK-IN/HEAT SHEETS
Please see attachments for copies of the heat sheet and check-in sheet. Some swimmers will be in events they do not normally swim. This was done because we feel they can do well and need them to swim different events to score points for the team as a whole. It is ok to be nervous, but all swimmers need to swim in all events given to them. If any swimmer would like to talk about their events or needs tips/advice, the coaches are all great resources and would love to discuss their events with them.
BODY ART
ALL 10 and under swimmers are required to have their first and last name, team, and age written on their back right shoulder. It is encouraged that all swimmers of all ages also have their events, heats, and lanes (and relay order) written somewhere visible to them as well.
Tonight's meet theme is EAT MY BUBBLES! Swimmers are encouraged to get covered in bubbles and write those words on their backs as well to join in the fun!
SENIOR NIGHT
Tonight, we celebrate our seniors last home meet. At Athlete check-in there will be a ton of bubble bottles. all swimmers should grab one and have some fun during them meet with bubbles! During the backstroke break we will be having our seniors swim a celebratory senior swim. All swimmers are encouraged to line the pool with their bubbles and blow them as we cheer.
We are very excited to see everyone this afternoon and see the progress the swimmers have made one week to the next! Please reach out with any questions!
Thank you,
USC Coaches
