First Week!
Good Afternoon!
It has been a great start to the season and we have been so excited to see everyone again or meet everyone for the first time! The coaches are incredibly enthusiastic about where we are starting this summer and are excited to see just how much we all improve this season!
PRACTICES
We know that it is very unlikely anyone will be able to come to every single practice this whole summer but we want to reinforce that practice time are extremely important for your swimmer to get better. We also love being able to see you all every day! We as coaches highly recommend coming to as many practices as you can.
Morning practices start next week on June 2nd! We are thankful to be able to separate out our swim groups by age in the mornings. This gives us the ability to have more coaches focus closer on each swimmer there so we would love to see everyone in the mornings!
Afternoon practices will continue on Mondays and Wednesdays with all groups beginning at 7. Please come 10 minutes early so we can do stretches and other dryland workouts before getting in the pool. for
THINGS TO BRING
For those new or returning to us, we just wanted to give a quick reminder of what to bring to each practice. Please make sure to bring goggles, a towel, a swimsuit, and water. As the summer goes on our workouts will be getting more intense and the weather will be getting hotter. It is imperative that the swimmers (especially our older swimmers) begin bringing water bottles to practice for drylands and bringing them behind the lanes as well. Swimsuits are a given but always important, towels are used to dry off but also during dryland workouts to protect the swimmer from the concrete. Goggles are extremely important to swimmers. They help keep the swimmers safe and confident in the pool by letting them see where they are going (feeders do not have a goggle requirement but it is highly recommended!).
MEETS
We are excited to get to jump into swim meets this year! We have Orange and White meet on June 4th. This is our intrasquad swim meet for our kids to learn (or remember) meet procedures and for our parents to learn different jobs and how meets are ran. We will have this in lieu of our normal afternoon practice and would love to see you there! Meets are very important to attend. They decide what league the team will be in for next year but more importantly give your swimmers a chance to show off their amazing growth over the summer and from year to year. My dream is for every swimmer to attend every meet though I know that is unrealistic, therefore please make sure to RSVP either a YES or NO to the meet. We will be sending more information out each week before the meet but all registrations are open for you to go through and sign up if you already know your summer plans. (Thank you to all those who already have!)
A reminder - feeders do not attend meets but will have the option to participate in our super fun junk meet near the end of the season to show off their skills!
We know sometimes plans change and you might get sick, hurt, or unable to attend for any reason. RSVPs remain open until the Sunday before the meet. Please reach out to Coach Robbie if something happens between Sunday and meet day so we can plan for your swimmers absence. Thank you!
MEET THEMES
We will be announcing meet themes next week.
FEEDERS
We were so excited to meet most of our feeders today! If you were unable to attend feeder evaluations today, please come up and introduce yourselves on your first practice so we can determine how best to help your swimmer! Our goal with the feeders is to first accomplish survival swimming skills and then more to competition skills. If the coaches feel at any point that your swimmer is ready to move out of the feeder group we will come up and would love to have a conversations with you amazing parents! We know not all our feeders will be ready this summer and that is ok! We just want to make sure each swimmer gets the best instruction possible for their ability!
PRIVATE LESSONS
Your coaches will be offering private lessons this summer! We are currently working out schedules and pool availability so more information will come out on that hopefully very soon!
THANK YOU to all our parents and swimmers you all are amazing and we can't wait to have a great summer with you! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to reach out to the parent board or Robbie (or both if unsure) so that we can help as best we can!
