USC News and Notes: IMPORTANT Deadline Information
Swim Families,
Congratulations on a great meet versus WSY!! Thanks to some great swims tonight from so many of our swimmers, we won by a score of 328-224. A HUGE thank you to our parents who stepped up and filled so many jobs…. We could not run meets without you!
Because of our very good… very hot… very late night… there will be NO PRACTICE TOMORROW MORNING!
Things are fast and furious this week, and we have lots of sign-up deadlines that are coming up.
SMOKY MOUNTAIN INVITATIONAL
The Smoky Mountain Invitational will be held on Saturday, July 9 (ages 11-Up) and Sunday, July 10 (ages 10-Under) at Springbrook Park in Alcoa. Be sure to check out Coach Allie’s very informative emails that contain additional information on the meet.
TEAM PHOTOS
We will be doing our team and individual photos on Monday, July 11 at 6:00 pm. Make plans to be there, wearing your team suit and team t-shirt. The photos will be made on the steps at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center by the photographers at TSS Photography.
A flyer regarding photo ordering (you can preview before ordering this year!) is attached.
Following team photos, we will be making posters to hang at Allan Jones at City Meet. Please bring your markers, art supplies and poster board!
ALSO, we will be selling snow-cones for $2.50 each as a fundraiser for our team following team photos.
We anticipate a really fun night!!
MEET VERSUS MARYVILLE ALCOA FLYING DOLPHINS
We will be swimming against the Maryville Alcoa Flying Dolphins at Springbrook Pool (same location as SMI) on Tuesday, July 12 in a meet that will determine our League champion. Sign-ups are now open on the website. We need as many swimmers there as possible, as this will be another really tough meet!

JUNKFEST MEET
We are bringing back an old USC/Faculty Club tradition with the Junkfest Meet. We will be hosting Benington-Farrington, WSY and the AJCC for a fun meet on Monday, July 18 at 6:00 pm in the competition pool at Allan Jones. Instead of ribbons, we will be swimming for prizes… and we will do a special recognition of our Senior Swimmers that night.

We will be selling concessions to help cover the cost of the meet, so come hungry. Be on the lookout for more details regarding this fun meet!
GKAISA CHAMPIONSHIP MEET INFORMATION
City Meet will take place Thursday, July 21 through Saturday, July 23. Preliminaries for swimmers 10-Under will be held on Thursday, July 21. Warm-ups will begin at 1:00 pm, with a meet start time of 3:00 pm. Preliminaries for swimmers 11-Up will be held on Friday, July 22. Warm-ups will begin at 7:00 am, with a meet start time of 9:00 am. Finals will be held on Saturday, July 23. Warm-ups will begin at 7:00 am, with a start time of 9:00 am. Additional details may be found in the Meet Invitation, which is under the City Meet tab on the GKAISA website.

Registration is now open on our website. Please click on the calendar just as you would for a regular meet. To be eligible to swim, you must (1) have participated in two of our regular season meets (SMI and Junkfest count toward this), and (2) be able to swim the length of the pool without assistance.
Sign-up deadline is Monday, July 11 at noon.
CITY MEET ADS
Ad sales help defray the cost of City Meet for our team and help GKAISA provide scholarship money to graduating senior swimmers. If your company or you would be interested in purchasing a Heat Sheet or scoreboard ad or would be interested in placing a banner at City Meet, please check out the following link:

GKAISA CITY MEET T-SHIRTS
GKAISA sells City Meet t-shirts that feature the names of swimmers entered in the Meet each day. Proceeds from t-shirt sales go toward helping defray the costs of City Meet and to assist in funding GKAISA scholarships for swimmers. Cost will be $15. Sizes available will be Youth S, M and L and Adult S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL. The Thursday shirt features the names of swimmers ages 10-Under, and the Friday shirt features the names of swimmers ages 11-Up.

CITY MEET PARKING
City Meet parking will be available in the garage across from Allan Jones at the cost of $10 per day.
Please order your passes through our Merchandise tab. Be sure you specify the day for each of the passes. For Finals Saturday: If you reasonably believe that your swimmer will qualify for Finals, please purchase a Saturday pass. There will be a very limited number available for purchase on Friday for Saturday finals.

If you do not want to purchase parking, parking will be available at the Metron Center lot off Kingston Pike (approximately 1 mile away near Tyson Park). No shuttle service will be provided.

NATIONAL ANTHEM PERFORMERS WANTED
If your swimmer is interested in auditioning to perform the National Anthem on any day of City Meet, please contact Harry Whiteside at 865.936.5454. Auditions may be carried out in person, over the phone or by video audition (preferable) sent to [email protected]. For more information, see the City Meet tab on the GKAISA website (www.gkaisa.swimtopia.com). Deadline to submit is Monday, July 18.
END-OF-SEASON BANQUET
We will hold our End-of-Season Banquet on Sunday, August 7 at 1:30 pm at Buddy’s Bearden Banquet Hall. The menu will feature penne pasta with alfredo and grilled chicken, chicken tenders, a garden salad and macaroni and cheese. Cost this year will be $18 for 11-Ups and $10 for 10-Unders.
