Coach Update #1 and Jr. Coach Info

Good afternoon University Swim Club families and swimmers,

I want to send you all some important updates from the coach side of the swim program.

1st our season started in just a few more days! I can’t wait to see old and new faces on the pool deck. Please look over the practice and meet schedules. If you have questions please let me know as soon as possible.

2nd I have been asked a lot about equipment for this season. In terms of what I would like to see swimmers with, my list would be: swimsuit, goggles, kickboard, and fins (preferably the ones from swim and tri or similar than scuba/snorkeling fins). I know that some shops will sell out of sizes for fins, but they can make a huge difference in swim instruction. If you already have a set of fins and they are too small and you are open to trading them or similar, let me know and I can try to help you find a new owner for them!

3rd Coaching staff. We are finalizing staff members now. When we have all of their biomes typed up, I will post an introduction for each member to the website.

4th Jr. Coaches!!! This is my favorite part of our program and the reason I became a swimmer and swim coach. Jr. Coaching is an open opportunity for older swimmers to directly give back and shape the swim program by assisting our youngest and newest swimmers with direct swim instruction or for demonstration purposes. If you are interested in being a Jr. Coach (be 13 and up) simply fill out this information form here.

I would like to host an informational meeting with those interested via zoom on Sunday, May 23rd at 5:00pm to answer any questions about this program. I will send out the link to this email by Saturday.

5th and final announcement…get ready for summer swim y’all! Taking last year off was one of the most difficult choices that I have made as a coach and let me tell you, I am so excited to be back on a pool deck proper with this team!

Can’t wait to see you all,

    Joe Peeden
